The Emblem Denotes :

Dove
The image of the dove indicates the Holy Spirit. When Jesus received baptism from John in the Jordan, he saw the Spirit of

the God descending like a dove and alighting on him (Mt: 3:17). In the middle ages, through St. Francis and St. Clare the

Holy Spirit renovated the Church. Like that the Spirit ignited our 8 founding mothers with special charism in the 19th

century. By using this charim the same spirit is renewing the whole world today through FCC.

Rays
The rays signify the Holy Spirit who renovates the world, sanctifies, renews and erects FCC through his gifts, graces and

fruits. It reminds us that the daughters of FCC inspired and enlightened by the Holy Spirit spread into the whole world and

radiate the divine light into the heats of the human beings.

Thau
Tau (T) is the last letter of the Hebrew Alphabets which Francis used as his signature. Before God annihilates the sinful

Jerusalem, he ordered his angels to put this cross shaped letter on the forehead of the people of Jerusalem who bereave and

lament about their iniquities. He commanded his angels not to kill the people those who are with this symbol on their

foreheads. (Ez: 9:46) Francis considered this letter as a sign of penance and atonement. In order to protect the wicked Cain

from the attack of others God put a mark on his forehead (Gene: 4: 15) On the night of the Passover, the destroyer of the

Lord could recognize the houses of the Israelites because they sprinkled the blood of the lamb on their door post as a sign.

(Ex: 12:22-23) Like vice the symbols became a cause of salvation. ‘T’ which denotes the salvific expiation, our Fr. St.

Francis acknowledged as a symbol of his signature and inscribed it on his tunic. Francis considered penance as one the

significant characteristic of his brothers as well as of him. We insert this letter ‘T’ in our emblem as a sign of the

Franciscan spirit of penance. Because “The Spirit of penance manifested in the Gospel and exemplified by St. Francis and St.

Clare has a prominent place in our lives.”

Hands
We affix these hands of the crucified Jesus and of Francis in our emblem to remember our Fr. Francis who identified with the

Crucified Lord. The wounds in the hands symbolise the stigmata of St. Francis which he got while he was in contemplation in

the Mount Laverna. This hands and wounds remind and teach us our FCC charism of experiencing the personal love of Christ

intimately who self emptied for my sake, and to attain perfect love through a life of penance and conversion, by

participating daily in the poverty, humility, suffering and self emptying love of Christ.

Bl. Sacrament
Bl. Sacrament stands for the Holy Mass and the bread of the divine mercy. St. Francis who instructed us to keep the Bl.

Sacrament in the costly tabernacle, St. Clare who held the Bl. Sacrament in her hands and chased the Saracens, our Founding

Mothers, Bl. Alphonsamma and Servant of God Sr. Rani Maria all had deep devotion towards the Bl. Sacrament. It lovingly

invites us to live out our daily offering of the Eucharist at the altar and to crush ourselves for our brethren. Eucharist

helps us to absorb the inner strength for our religious life, the source of energy for our apostolic activities, and to love

others sacrificially as he loved us.

Open Bible
The open Bible reminds us our great responsibility of studying the Word of God, sharing and living it our daily circumstances

of lives. We are obliged to become the Word of God and to give the Word. Christ told us “Go into the all world and proclaim

the Good News to the whole creation.” (Mk: 16:15) Therefore, like Mother Mary, let Jesus help us to treasure the Word of God

always in our hearts and to lead a Word filled life.

Globe
Responding to the exhortation of Christ to “make disciples of all nations”( Mt: 16:15) and to spread the Kingdom of God FCC

has to reach to the whole world like Asia, Europe, Africa, America and into the other places of the continents where we are

working. Sine FCC has its origin in the Indian Soil we highlighted the map of India in the emblem.
